A unification of two very distinct styles, eras in architectural design working together to create this charming staircase of modern appeal and a hint of Victorian ancestry. Simple, clean and effective both visually and practically. A nice little addition to an already successful project of prior involvement.
With previous modifications carried out by the jbcs Team being very successful, not only in the sense of the aesthetic appeal they delivered but also their practical use and functionality (see sloping site parking and outdoor living Post) the customer decided that it was time to call on JB Construction Services PTY LTD yet another time, to focus on the next portion of alterations. The element that was deemed to be the most urgent and in need of immediate attention was the staircase adjoining the elevated porch. With the dwelling being over half a century old some of its original components were taking the toll of its aged nature and were starting to fail. The staircase had developed very large cracks and was presenting itself as a hazard to its users.
After assessing the situation, JB Construction Services PTY LTD presented the customer with the following steps in order to rectify the issue:
- demolish the existing concrete staircase and clear the rubble beneath its foundation
- create a timber staircase that would complement the stylistic features of the dwelling as well as the modern modifications added during the previous works carried out by our team
- use hardwood for the ‘runs’ of the staircase due to the material’s weather enduring nature (mainly due to the staircase’s direct exposure to the sun and rain) and also due to its aesthetics (mostly when used in conjunction with an appropriate stain)
- replicate the existing balustrade
- keep the colour scheme consistent with the existing
The customer accepted out proposal and the wok was carried out.
